Codon usage pattern of differentially expressed genes in Leishmania species
نویسندگان
چکیده
Out of numerous genes, differentially expressed genes of Leishmania major (299) and L. infantum (241), essential for their survival, have been studied for the analysis of synonymous codon usage patterns. The role of translational selection and mutational biases were analyzed through ENc plot and correspondence analysis. Present analysis indicates that mutational pressure has a profound effect on codon usage pattern in both the species of Leishmania (with a minor variation). Beside this, natural and translational selections also operate with a proper balance that makes the organism translationally more efficient.

Evolution of codon usage and base contents in kinetoplastid protozoans.
In this study we analyze and compare the trends in codon usage in five representative species of kinetoplastid protozoans (Crithidia fasciculata, Leishmania donovani, L. major, Trypanosoma cruzi and T. brucei), with the purpose of investigating the processes underlying these trends. A principal component analysis shows that the G+C content at the third codon position represents the main source ...
متن کاملComparative Multivariate Analysis of Codon and Amino Acid Usage in Three Leishmania Genomes
Multivariate analysis of codon and amino acid usage was performed for three Leishmania species, including L. donovani, L. infantum and L. major. It was revealed that all three species are under mutational bias and translational selection. Lower GC12 and higher GC3S in all three parasites suggests that the ancestral highly expressed genes (HEGs), compared to lowly expressed genes (LEGs), might h...
متن کاملIdentification of Synonymous Codon Usage Bias in the Pseudorabies Virus UL31 Gene
Background: Little knowledge of synonymous codon usage pattern of pseudorabies virus (PRV) genome, especially the UL31 gene in the process for its evolution is available. Objectives: In the present study, the codon usage bias between PRV UL31 sequence and the UL31-like sequences was identified. Materials and Methods: We used a comprehensive analysi...
متن کاملComparative Genomics of Trypanosomatid Pathogens using Codon Usage Bias
UNLABELLED It is well known that an amino acid can be encoded by more than one codon, called synonymous codons. The preferential use of one particular codon for coding an amino acid is referred to as codon usage bias (CUB). A quantitative analytical method, CUB and a related tool, Codon Adaptative Index have been applied to comparatively study whole genomes of a few pathogenic Trypanosomatid sp...
متن کاملMaxicircle (mitochondrial) genome sequence (partial) of Leishmania major: gene content, arrangement and composition compared with Leishmania tarentolae.
We report 8420 bp of DNA sequence data from the maxicircle (mitochondrial) genome of Leishmania major (MHOM/SU/73/5ASKH), a much larger portion of this genome than has been reported previously from any Leishmania species infecting humans. This region contains 10 partial and complete genes: 5 protein-encoding genes (COII, COIII, ND1, ND7 and Cyt b); two ribosomal RNA subunits (12S and 9S) and th...
